What "science" are you thankful and explain why it matters to you.
I wasn't going to do a blog this week but I keep hearing that you want a blog. I thought I would make it easy on you for this happy short week, so everyone gives thanks or is thankful for something on Thanksgiving. Well, it was suggested to me, to blog about what we are thankful as far as science that we are thankful for. Good idea Frank.
What "science" are you thankful and explain why it matters to you.

I am thankful for the water cycle. Because when it gets cold enough... It's snows ;). And then we have a chance of getting a wicked cool snow day. And I am thankful for mrs. TOM B being the best physics teacher in all the world. Love Matt.

I am thankful for the science used in medicine. Without it many people won't be alive today. This science helps with the gift of life and life is a precious gift that people take advantage of every day.

I am thankful for electricity, so we can use microwaves instead of heating food over a fire & having washing machines instead of washing our clothes in buckets.

I am thankful for whichever science gives us electricity. Without electricity we would have to chop down trees to make a fire to keep us warm. And in all honesty no one wants to be cutting down trees and ten chopping it into small logs... That's just to much work. Thanks electricity

I find that there is not any one specific feild of science that I can select out a being my favorite or one that I am most thankful for. I mean I am thankful for physics since it is not bound by the law of conservation of mass and this means that theoretically we have virtually unlimetided ammounts of energy when you consider the conversion factor bettween matter and pure energy. However recent abvancements in biology are so stunnung that the prospect of genetically altering humans to prevent disease is proving to be a semi-reasonable prospect. Chemistry has also advanced significantly creating materials that are extremely resitstant to breakdown of will breakdown in such ways that make them extremely enviornmentally freindly.

I am thankful heat and cooling. I am thankful because I will not be cold in the winter and not be hot in the summer. So pretty much I am thankful for electricity.

Electricity is pretty important. Without it, most, if not all, of the things we're used to doing and having in our daily lives would be completely different.

I'm thankful for nitrogen, oxygen and H2O. without these elements we would not be able to service a normal life. I'm also thankful for fossil fuel and electricity. and without these things in our life we wouldn't be able to see when driving and have a warm house to spend thanksgiving in

I am thankful for a great many things, but the one thing that really takes the cake for me is the invention known as the microwave. C'mon! Its like a time machine for our food! Instead of taking forever to cook in a conventional oven, just give it to "chef mike" and it is done! Thank you science for the microwave:)

The one thing that I am very thankful for in science would have to be biomedical technology. Without it we wouldn't be able to solve many of our problems involving the human body. We need this science to better our lives.
Anna Mijatovic
12/2/2013 02:19:05 am
I agree with marko! All these problems involving the human body is one of the most important things to figure out, and without biomedical technology we wouldnt be able to solve these problems like the way we do now.

One of the things that I am most thankful for in science is stars. Without stars, our universe would be very boring, and no one would even be around to appreciate how boring it would be. Stars are great at making new elements so planets and living things can exist. They also provide warmth, light, and when they eventually explode, cool light shows! The fact that they are a ball of seemingly unending exploding gas is pretty cool too.
Joshua Flack
12/1/2013 03:32:46 pm
I couldn't agree more. Stars are more important than many people know. Many of the world's older traditions and cultures were actually based upon the position of certain stars.

I am thankful for many things in the science field, but I would have to say electricity is the one area I'm most thankful for. Without electricity I truly believe the world could not go on because of how many things humans have created that depend on electricity.
Sam Weaver
12/1/2013 02:52:07 pm
I think I am most thankful for electricity because without it our lives would be a lot harder. It allows us to advance in many jobs and it helps us with pretty much everything. Without electricity my life would be so boring so I am very thankful for it.

I am very thankful for the many advances in agricultural and water purification technologies. Without these, large portions of our population would have a very hard time surviving this winter. We should all be thankful for what we have in this world, because we take way too much for granted.
Daniel Kunsman
12/1/2013 03:33:57 pm
I am very thankful for all the advancements made in chemistry and biology that has allowed us to develop the medicine we need to fight infection. Without them, some people might not have been able to live to see Thanksgiving with their families.
Anna Mijatovic
12/2/2013 02:16:50 am
I am thankful for energy. Without energy we would not have the cool electronics that we have today. Also we would not have water, heating or cooling, since all those need energy in order to function. We really dont know how thankful we are until oit happens.

12/2/2013 05:03:24 am
To be honest I'm not greatful for just one type of science but all of it. We wouldn't be where we are in this world with out it. Science has given us the knowledge we need to survive and even strive. I'm greatful for all of the things we have accomblished with the science we have. So not just one but all BC each type has its purpose for us to survive this world we call earth which is our home.
Grace Connolly

The science that I am most thankful for is anything that helps us communicate. Advances like the printing press and the internet helped humans spread ideas and knowledge, and make possible other inventions. Skype and other video call technology amaze me, it's so cool that you can instantly see and talk to someone on the other side of the globe.

After that long needed break, I've read, rested, and reflected much on my future, what I can do now to influence it and what has influenced me already. I've read form the book I've read that we can appreciate all of the things around us, from the rocks to the technology. Every thing plays a role in our lives.

I'm most thankful for electricity because we use it every day. We wouldn't have all sorts of things if we didn't have electricity. Other than the most important (heat and light) we also would not have outlets which would make it virtually impossible to do anything that requires power.

I think medical science would have to be the science that i am thankful for, because it has the ability to bring people closer together than ever before. It can give someone a second chance, and that is something most of us have woshed for atleast once.

The science that im the most thankful for is the science of forensics, it makes me feel safer knowing that its harder for criminals to commit crimes because they know they probably get caught because of how well our scientists find evidence.

I am thankful for the many sciences that are involved in making weapons. Aviation advanced at the rate it did because we wouldn't let the other guys have better military equipment than us. We wouldn't have the microwave if it wasn't for the development of nuclear weapons. We wouldn't have put a man on the moon if the Russians weren't trying to beat us to it.

I am thankful for all electronic technology that has been created so far. Without it, we would still be learning the long ways of doing things. Its just alot faster to use internet and devices to complete tasks. Comments are closed.
