read --> http://news.yahoo.com/the-ocean-is-broken-133327474.html The movie Gravity has just been released starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. This movie is sent in space and on the ISS. (something we recently just blogged about).
My husband and I had a chacne to catch this movie and I found for the most part the "science' to be very accurate. This got me to thinking about all the other movies that have some "science" base to them and how accurate they really are. Here is an article from the online newspaper The National http://www.thenational.ae/uae/science/gravity-paints-physics-in-a-pure-but-terrifying-light After reading the article and thinking about how accurate movie science is, tell me your favorite movie based in science and please tell me why you liked the movie. Tell me little the science in the movie as well. Here is an article form Wired Magazine http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2013/10/big-data-biology/
Read the article and tell me what you think. Is there too much biology data because of teh genome? Can we ever process that much data? And really what is the purpose for Tell me what you think being that your are teenagers. I have my own thoughts - share yours
When people find out that I teach physics, the question usually arises about the "God" particle. People want me to explain this mysterious field to them. I myself struggle to understand this newest discovery and I too have to research to find out about this as well.
I recently came across a very nice explanation of this topic and would like to share Here is a link to my TED Ed http://ed.ted.com/on/p8CnZrFE Please follow the link and under discussion give me your insight on Is study of the subatomic realm a useful endeavor for mankind to expend resources on? Don't forget to answer the questions |
