Okay, we just finished our first full week of school. Most of the students are settling in on a routine and are adjusting to their new schedules. I, as a teacher/coach/instructor, have had time to settle in in on the new school year as well. I know nobody wakes in the morning and says "I really want to fail today" --> It is not in our DNA
I also want 100% participation in the blog and yet my expectations are rarely met. On a good week, it hovers around 50%. Such an easy assignment, go online view, watch or listen and then give me your thoughts. Not hard but yet (over 8 years and counting) I still have some students who won't participate. Why do you think that happens?
This leads me to this weeks blog. Why do I find this exercise (blog) so invaluable? In the prior years, I have opened the school year up with a very interesting video --> Shift Happens and here is a current version --> www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqZiIO0YI7Y
As you watch this video, think about why getting an good education is so critical to the future. Besides learning facts and passing from grade to grade; what does a good education provide? I have a great deal of passion for science education. After watching the video, can you see where my passion comes from.
I am also including a page of 10 habits of successful students - look it over. Comment on what do you find the most important habit? Are some habits more important than others? Do you need all ten to be a successful student?
Again you have till 9/3/17 @ 11:59 to get the job done.
