Fracking

I received many comments on what exactly is fracking? Well I found this nice little article in the Wall Street Journal regarding fracking water and the recycling of this water. The main concern with fracking is the "dirty" water and how to dispose of it properly. This article gives a couple of ideas. Please read and tell me your thoughts.

Now i am not good at math but...140 billion gallons is alot of water, thats about 20 BILLION cubic feet, or in other words its a body of water that is 4 miles long 1 mile wide and 200 feet deep (roughly). i hope someone can find a way to make this water safe again. I also hope that they make it fast.

Yes I think that trying to conserve out recourses is very important and, that they need to save as much water as they can

I agree with Ryan, that is so much water and I hope they find a fast way to make it safe again.

i agree with ryan that isnt a small amount of water it could mean a lot to people out there if it is lost i hope they find a solution to the problem soon

Ryan I'm not the best at math either but anyone could realize that is an extreme amount of water to be unsafe!

I agree - that is alot of water and that is why there is a rush to reclaim the water.

We should recycle the dirty water to use over and over. But while we keep fracking we should take samples of the water and try to find ways to purify the water for drinking and growing crops. It will use less energy and not contaminate a lot of water.

I agree with Alec on what we should do with the water. He is a very smart gentleman

They deffinatly need to find a way to save this water! Us lossing recourses is not good for put population or put economy and on a plus side trying to save this water may open up some jobs

I think its good that bydoing this its making the gas cheaper and its making our economy better because its all in the U.S but it has serious effects to. There is earthquakes now that are effecting many people. So even thought its cheaper, it has serious effects to.

i think that fracking is both useful and problem causing. Unfortunately a lot of water is used to get the oil from low beneath the earth, but this oil is inexpensive and in our own backyard! This fracking is causing earthquakes and the escape of some harmful elements, yet it is creating jobs and bringing in our own oil. I am indifferent on the subject, but i feel that there are both good and bad sides to fracking!

While fracking is very useful, it brings many natural sources for energy, it is also causing many issues. The main issue is the water that gets used. It becomes unfit to use after use. So is this okay that we are tanting all this water? Yes and no its good that we get oil and gases but is the cost worth it.

I agree. Fracking has it's ups and downs but do the pros outweigh the cons? I think the water should only be reused if its clean

Alot of the people out where this is happening have signs in their yards that say "stop fracking" etc. yes theyre being paid well to use their land, but at what costs?

Fracking has it's benefits and it's problems i think that people really need to consider if the costs out weigh the benefits of fracking.

Fracking can be good and a problem causer. All the earthquakes and other things cause by fracking is harmful to humans /etc. But on another note fracking can benefit. I think it depends on how you look at the matter.

There are pros and cons to fracking. However, there's pros and cons to just about everything we do. What's important is deciding whether the worth of the result outweighs everything else.

Fracking to me is both good and bad. It is a ton of water, which will make things alot cheaper for people. Such as gasoline. The bad thing is that it is causing earthquakes.

Natural gas is one of the cleanest sources of energy that we use for many things. However, in order to obtain a huge amount of this natural gas, we must use a method called “fracking” because much of this gas is stuck in shale deposits. This has caused underground water sources to become contaminated and is also a probable cause of earthquakes. While we all want energy, it seems that this rush to frack may be producing inadequate results and that better methods of extraction should be studied and researched.

Fracking can be very useful but also waste less of certain materials. Fracking causes earthquakes and other natural disasters that our country doesn't need.

Fracking both helps and hinders society. Although it is doing its eat in order to reduce prices as act as a good source of energy, it causes natural disasters and hazardous situations that then need to be solved. Cracking is a catch 22 by adding and solving problems at the same time.

I think fracking is so bad for the environment I know that oil is necessary for our country but using that much water and other resources or country needs is harmful too. They should find an alternative way to get oil that is safer and efficient !

Fracking seems to be very helpful except it wastes all off that water. They need to find a way toclean the water. water is a necessity of life and we need to not waste it.

Fracking can be very beneficial to us but then it also has its downsides. It's great that we are getting other resources out of it, but we can't harm a resource that people use everyday just to get something else

That is a crazy amount of water being contaminated i really hope they find a solution to the problem.that water could be put to a good use in many ways and would be a shame if it is just thrown away because then we are losing a percentage of our resources and that is never good.

This "fracking" is really useful but a problem as well . Unfortunately a lot of water is used to get the oil from beneath the earth, but this oil is not expensive. I feel that there are both good and bad arguments of "fracking".

i think that fracking is both good and bad for our environment. a lot of water is used to get the oil from low beneath the earth. And not to mention how the fracking actually causes earthquakes. We as ohioans dont need to personally worry about it, but its not good for our nation or enviorment. And of course the use of fracking is definitely helping our nation as it creates a lot more jobs. I would have to lean against not being on board with fracking i think there are other safer more eco friendly ways to produce jobs in our nation.

Fracking is both good and bad, it can cause earthquakes which isn't good for anything that's in it's path. And lots of water is used, it should be cleaned though so it's also 100% safe

Franking seems useful, but at the same time dangerous and expensive. I think it would be wonderful if they found a system to continually use the same water and clean it enough so that less what is needed. This could be used until they find a better wait to not use water because well that's a lot of water!

Its hard to decide the pros from the cons for something like this because people are very biased based on what they find necessary Comments are closed.
