You don't need load of research to see that males and females are different but here is some new information to show how the brain is different between the males and females. As a teacher, I see some subtle difference between male and female students but it mainly attributed to behavior more than intelligent. Read the article and tell me what you think http://www.livescience.com/41619-male-female-brains-wired-differently.html

Men are wired differently than women. According to this study neither men or women are better than one another. We both think differently and when we work together we can get so much done and learn a lot from the other persons point of view. Men are the action people, women are the thinkers so we go together perfectly like a puzzle.

I think that Suxie has a good point about how when we work together it's like puzzle pieces that fit together

It's a good point suzi, we do work very well together(occasionally). This could be because we think differently and hopefully this gender issues will work out everywhere not just in america.

Stop. Yeah I am going to have to differ with you on your last statement. The fact of the matter is that some people are simply better equiped to learn than others and that no two people are inheretly equal in therms of their capabilities.

12/9/2013 03:56:46 pm
I totally disagree with Mitch. Learning capability has nothing to do with this, it is more like a lack of care between the genders. More girls tend to care than boys so they will more likely be successful or atleast get better grades and knowledge. If a boy was to out the same amount of effort In his learning he will learn just as much.
Matt Tomc
12/12/2013 11:07:13 am
Mitch is correct. Some people are more capable of learning than others. From an early age people have similar potential, but due to the way in which they're raised their learning capabilities start to differentiate, making learning harder for some than for others.
brianna luksic
1/14/2014 06:19:36 pm
I agree with Mitch here... the way you are raised and how well your parents push you to get good grades will affect your brains way of learning and thinking. If you grow up in a household with parents making sure you do your homework every night, its alot different than if you grow up in a household where you have no parental guidance with school. You do have the opportunity to better yourself and expand your learning, but your brain develops the most at young ages.

Not to sound pretentious but I didn't find this information to be all that surprising. Considering how differently males and females tend to think and act it only makes sense that they would differ in brain structure at sone level. The idea that male and female brains would be the same is actually rather humurous when you think about it, considering how much the human brain differs from one person to the next.
Tyler Wiggins
12/3/2013 12:25:58 am
Right. Everyone's different from one another, especially at the genetic level.

Of course, brains are wired differently based on gender. Thus, you can see some obvious differences between male and female behavior. It's only common sense, really. However, it is not true in all cases, such as in transgenderism. Overall, the article may be true in a general perspective; everyone is different.

I definitely agree with Lexi on her opinion. no gender is superior to another. there is a stereotype that men are stronger than women physically and mentally, but that doesn't always apply. Women can do just about anything that a man can do such as join the airforce, become an successful athlete.

I agree that men and women both think very differently, but you have to know that not all men and women are going to be the same or think the same. There are claims made in sociology and psychology of how the male and female brain works, but it neccessarily doesn't have to apply to every male or female. Every male and female has a different way of thinking, learning, and processing information. part of the reason why most people say that both genders think so differently it is based on stereotypes, society, and research, but in reality, male or female, everyone is NOT the same
Tom Kruse
12/4/2013 03:30:41 pm
That's what I used to use in my mind as evidence to why some people don't fight the stereotype, because they'd rather conform to the norm, but then I realized that it has to partly with how the brain develops.

Men nor women should be treated like they are better than the opposite gender. Just because a white man doesn't learn as fast as an asian man doesn't mean the the asian man is superior. We should all be treated equal.

I agree that men and women are different. But men are different than other men, and women are different than other women. It really depends on the person. Everyone's unique and no two people are the exact same. In my opinion, there is no "stronger" gender when it comes to brain functions.

Colin Curtis

Like most people already stated, it isn't a surprise that the brain is connected differently in males and females. They act so differently that their brains would be expected to not be the same. I find it more interesting how males and females as a whole think most differently when they are teenagers, then become more similar as they get older.

The article did prove key facts in there. or example, women may have better verbal memory and social cognition, whereas men may have better motor and spatial skills, on average. Brain imaging studies have shown that women have a higher percentage of gray matter, the computational tissue of the brain, while men have a higher percentage of white matter, the connective cables of the brain. It's really cool to think that something like this is true.

I think this article explains the reasoning for many different qualities that men and women have. Women use more of the left and right sides of their brain which are logical and intuitive thinking while men use more of the front and back which are motor skills. I think this explains why girls tend to seem more emotional because they think differently than men.
Logan Range
12/8/2013 01:56:04 pm
Men are naturally better at things like sports because our brains are wired to use more of the motor skills. women tend to be the decision makers because they use the left and right side of your brain that deals with logical thinking.

On a deeper level everyone is wired In their own way but there's a big difference between males and females. Sports vs. Dancing with the stars. Crying vs. punching something and I think it all can be traced back to our hormones In my opinion, I do think that men and woman have differently wired brains because not genders do things way different from another. Also, woman tend to care more so they end up with better grades. It is not all about learning capability, so I agree with you about how big of a role behavior plays.

Male and female brains' do work differently, but the difference isn't only determined by sex. It is also affected by genetics, environment, and gender. Gender and sex, even though they may seem to be the same thing, are actually different. Sex is the physical appearance of the body, while gender is the mental status of the individual. Gender is a choice, and it affects the brain just as sex does.
