Comment on video and what makes you happy.
We are going to start the second quarter with happiness. The majority of the students feel stressed and overwhelmed their final semester of high school due the fact of college choices, the transition to a new school and just getting older. Well I though it would be a good idea to maybe look at how to be happy. Here is a TED talk from back in 2012 which is a great way to look at what is happiness how to maintain happiness.

This conclusion makes sense based on the fact that when one is doing some menial task they focus primarily on the accomplishing the task, rather than if they like the task or not. I too find enjoyment in my work. It is only when we start to think about the task in the abstract that we become unhappy. Even though it was left out in the video, it should also be mentioned that the chemical composition of a person's brain can also highly influence how happy they are.

I though that the video was interesting because everyone wants to be happy but we get lost in what really makes us happy. We think being rich, having the latest items and being better than everyone else brings us happiness but it doesn't. You can be the greatest person on earth and still be sad. Happiness varies between every individual because we are all different.

I definitely agree with Suzi on this statement, everyone wants to be happy. how someone can make themselves happy is by thinking outside the box, you don't want to be that person who dreads going to school or work everyday, or who feels stressed out by not having enough free time or not enough time to spend time with people, you can adapt onto new different things in life that could change how you think and make your happiness better!

I agree with a lot of viewpoints and perspectives that the man mentions in the video. I thought it was very interesting to know and recognize what kind of factors affects our happiness such as careers, friendships, relationships, marriage, school e.t.c I personally think that the environment sometimes affects someones form of happiness as well. someone identifying happiness doesn't have to identify it by school, friendships, or relationships, a person could say their way of happiness or feeling happy is how they take care of their health.

If you want to be specific happiness as we know it is simply a mixture of chemicals released in succession in the brain that triggers a neuron response. Ironically is you had a jar filled with dopamine and the onther chemicals that trigger this emotional response you wouldn't be wrong if you said you had a jar filled with happiness.

Happiness is achieved through many ways. However maintaining it is actually quite harder then it sounds. You have to love the task your doing at that moment. If you are not thinking of it then you will not be happy. You have to constantly be thinking about your task to actually be happy. This is hard because we normally just do the task by command. Eventually we will be able to master this ability and be truly happy.

I do agree with the video, on how people aren't really happy unless they have certain things; like a nice car, big house and money. Yes that can make you happy, but those are just objects they can't actually make you happier in the end. Even some people who had everything they want are still aren't happy. Mind wondering could be a good and bad thing. Like Ted said in the video mind wondering can be a positive thing, like think about a vacation or happy things like that. Or when you get distracted like thinking about something other than what you are doing. People are substantally unhappy when they are mind wondering which makes sense. Because when you are thinking about something else besides what you are actually doing, its usually negative or what you could be doing but you aren't. 10% of the time your mind is wondering its during sex? Thats awkward. So really what this is saying is that you are actually unhappy to a point during sex. Thats crazy.

I HATE when people think they only need materialistic things to make them happy- it's ridiculous, if you have a roof over your head, you're healthy, people who care about you, and food to eat why shouldn't you be happy? People have lost the true meaning of happiness because it's covered up by fancy cars, nice clothes, or the latest shoes. I'm over it! Yes I can say high school is stressful and I don't have everything I want in life but I still smile everyday and am grateful for my life and the people who are in it. People live their life unhappy because of materialistic things even though there are people in the world who would and will die for the life that everyone else has.

Happiness is a beautiful thing. A man can find joy in a painting that he made, deriving happiness from his work. A women may be caught smiling at a bushel of apples that brought back memories of her grandmother making pies. Children will always giggle and laugh when they have fun, running and playing games and telling jokes. Anybody can find happiness in anything. I know that theres the scientific explanation behind it, and i know that its usually explained in a cold way, so I'll leave with this thought: Since whales are mammals, do they have BO?

It makes sense that people become unhappier if their minds roam, since it would usually be about something stressful or something that they would rather be doing. I know that my mind wanders a lot, and it can be hard to get it back to the task at hand. I guess that if you must think about something else, make it pleasant, since unhappy thoughts often cause more harm than good.

Happiness is diffferent for everybody. For instance, most Americans today think that good grades, a high salary job, and an i phone are all the things you need to live a happy life. But let me ask you this. What sacrifices did you make to get those things? did those sacrifices give you the feeling that it was worth it? are you happy with the results? A person who puts a value on something else gives that something a meaning. That meaning could either produce true sorrow or joy from the interpreter. For example, You may think im crazy, but i would value a lower paying job where i am actually happy, rather than a high paying job. money doesnt make me happy, therefore isnt as valuable as the experience it comes from. Happiness is just that, the high value in the experience of life, and what you make of it

Happiness isn't the same for everyone. I do feel though as if we look at the things that are the most unimportant to us but seem to make us the happiest as being reasonable. It shouldn't be that way. happiness should come from the inside. You should be able to do things that make you happy not what others tell you.

I don't believe happiness can ever be defined because happiness is different for every person and is different in every situation. What makes one person happy might not make the next person happy. In my opinion, the reason many high school students feel unhappy is because of the mass amounts of pressure and expectation there is in the world now a days. many students like myself have to worry about being able to get scholarships for college. whether it be academically or athletically there is too much pressure on high school students. the thing that I think would help the most is too simply brush things off without dwelling on them.

Happiness isn't completely definable. Someone elses happiness might not make you happy and vice versa. I feel like stress from school, and the future such as college can have a big impact on people my age. It's hard to be happy when you're constantly worrying about what you're going to do with your life. But at the same time, I feel like if someone wants to be happy they will be. This is false because often times people will buy something and love it for a few weeks, then two weeks after it is old news and they already want the next new thing.
