So why do you think about why some people believe? Is there any conspiracy theories you believe in and if so, why?
We are learning about forces and especially friction forces this week in my physics classes. The physics' classes have been discussing how the ancient Egyptians were able to build the great structures. Many people have a conspiracy theory surrounding how the those marvels were actually constructed - Physics students know better, but why do some people (even with overwhelming facts) decided to subscribe to these outlandish theories?

I think some people believe in certain conspiracy theories because they want to think that they are true, even though that there are cold hard facts right in front of them; people are stubborn. The conspiracy theories I am most interested in is weather 9/11 was an inside job with the government and weather there were more than one shooter in the Las Vegas massacre.

Some people may believe in those theories just because they have a need to believe in something different than what the majority of people think. The conspiracy theories that I believe in is that there is some form of life out in space.

I believe the reason why people listen to and believe in conspiracy theories is because they want a logical answer to something that doesn't make sense. For example, the pyramids couldn't realistically have been built just by humans in ancient Egypt time. A theory I believe in is that the moon landing was fake. I've believed in this theory since a debate I had to participate in for 5th grade. There's just too much evidence against the first landing. We eventually went there, but our televised version was not real.

Some people tend to believe (or force themselves to believe) in conspiracy theories out of spite or even make some up for attention. Of course this is only a few reasons why, but this is what I chose to focus on. Many people throughout their lives will always tend to seek ways of getting themselves noticed somehow, for example even making up lies about certain people or past events. If the person makes them self sound believable others will begin to agree and join them. Conspiracy theories are always a fun way to pass time and read. Of course you never really know if they are true because honestly anything is possible in the universe.

I think people believe in conspiracy theories because they are scared of the truth. They do not want to believe in something if they do not agree with it even if there is hard core evidence that it is wrong. i personally do not believe in any theories myself but i do not really know of many.

Conspiracy theories are funny. There is always going to be people who question things in life, it’s our nature. I believe conspiracy theories get out of hand because people believe word of mouth and they listen to their families and friends opinions before they hear facts and the truth. Even after hearing the facts about something, family and friends have more of an impact on a persons life and they will have made bonds with what they have been told. It’s fun to imagine some conspiracy theories are true, in a sense, conspiracy theories show the creativeness of the human mind and reading about them can be entertaining. My favorite conspiracy is that the world is actually round and not flat.

I think that people believe in conspiracy theories because it gives something to "explain" the unexplainable. Even if there are facts that disprove the theory, some people are so desperate to believe something that they hold fast to the conspiracy. Personally I don't believe in any conspiracy theories, though I find it interesting to hear other people's takes on certain occurrences.

Some people believe in conspiracy theories because they provide an answer to an unanswered question. Frankly, people in general are gullible and tend to believe something if it comes from a seemingly reliable source and if it makes sense to them. People are also stubborn. It does not matter if substantial evidence is brought about to disprove their theories, they will most likely stick with what they believe to be true. I found it interesting that people who trust their intuition tend to be more susceptible to believing conspiracy theories, while those who rely on evidence tend to be more doubting of them. I personally do not believe in any conspiracy theories, but I did see a documentary about Kennedy's shooting that had me convinced it was not a one man job.

I think that people believe in conspiracy theories because they do not want to believe the truth. Some people would rather live in ignorance and create absurd explanations for things than to just face the hard truth. People are stubborn, and don't like to be told that their beliefs are wrong. I personally don't really believe in many conspiracy theories, but I do find some of them interesting and intriguing. Some people reach pretty far to come up with explanations for things and it can be comical sometimes. Some theories seem to have some pretty solid evidence, but it may just be due to facts being interpreted in the wrong way.

I think some people believe conspiracies because the concept can be so well disproven or proved and the chance of something being able to be proven is enough to have faith in a certain idea for some sort. Some people grasp ideas of some theories and others are in no particular concern for them. Personally I have looked at this weird conspiracy of the time traveling man. There is photgraphic evidence of a man in the old times in which a man is wearing clothes of today and the picture was proven not photoshopped in this case, believe it or not it is just a very strange concern.

People resort to believing in conspiracy theories because they wish to subscribe to ideas and theories that support their current opinions. One reason that the article provides, and one that I absolutely agree with, is that people rely more on their "gut instinct" versus concrete facts when it comes to what they believe. I don't really believe in any conspiracy theories. While I do feel that being critical of the government is extremely important in a republic like the United States, I feel that people tend to gravitate towards conspiracy theories needlessly.

I think that people believe in conspiracy theories because of simply the way people look at the world. Some people just have the desire to dig deeper and search for all the possible explanations. Many conspiracy theories are also fun to research. They can have many connections to events and facts that we already know or don't know, they can be like big puzzles. I have a friend named Paul and he loves conspiracy theories, he could spend all day looking them up and he always believes them. I do not believe in most conspiracy theories, however I do like to watch some shows about them. My favorite conspiracy theories is the JFK conspiracy, mainly because of the bullets path and his connections with the mafia.

People generally believe in conspiracy theories due to some sort of confirmation bias, they already have an opinion on what they think is true and they will actively seek out information and sources (no matter how wrong it might be) that prove that opinion right, such as with climate change or vaccines and autism. I personally believe in the theory that the CIA killed JFK.

People most likely believe in conspiracy theories because of how interesting they can be while being a possibility to explain what had just happened. Obviously, every answer to everything we know in life isn't absolutely interesting. Throwing something? Well, you better be ready to calculate all of the integers that goes into that, instead of just settling with "an invisible ghost just carries my object to whatever destination it desires". This branches off to things such as Flat Earth. Why have all of these complexities to make up this single world instead of just thinking of some simple ideas?

I feel as if people believe in conspiracy theories even against the major evidence just to challenge the normal thinking and to be unique in a way. Certain people do not like to go with the majority, so they will fight for something they may not necessarily believe that they know isn't even true. Either the people want to oppose the majority, or they just choose to ignore the evidence and claim ignorance. There aren't really any major conspiracies that I believe in, but some are very interesting to read about.
